Green Ridge Church of Christ

"Where There's Smoke - There's Fire"

Thanks for checking us out.
We are doing well.
God is good.
The work continues to prosper.

We have new people come to our services each week.  We are so thankful for that.  The church has made some hard decisions, we believe they will be best for the Lord's work in the long run, really, things are going well.  We look forward to a great fall and winter.

Politicians sling mud at one another, often they say harsh things to get their side's point across.  One said, "You are a liar."  The other said, "You are not honest."  Just because a person says so, doesn't make it true.  Well, I have often said, "where there's smoke - there's fire."

The validity of some statements is readily assumed simply because one has heard those expressions so many times.  One such example is, "A watched kettle never boils."  Is that really true?  Of course, not.  I have watched the kettle, watched kettles boil, at least the water in a heated kettle boil.

Another of these statements is, "Where there's smoke - there's fire."  But is it really true?

The smoke indicated that the apostles were drunk on the day of Pentecost.  Acts 2.  Really, they were speaking in a language that all could understand.  The pubs weren't opened.  Joel 2.  There was smoke but no fire!

Peter and John (Acts 4) were criminals, so the smoke said.  They were put in jail, but only because they were preaching Jesus Christ.  Again the smoke was in error!

Paul and Silas were troublemakers.  This was said about them at Thessalonica (Acts 17:6).  The truth was that they were solving problems by preaching Christ to a lost world.  Smoke, but no real fire!

The story was out that Jesus was a blasphemer.  Even the high priest accused Him of that crime (Matt 26:25).  Nothing could have been further from the truth, but there was certainly lots of smoke.

Think for yourself!
Examine the facts!
Be willing to give others the same benefit of the doubt that you would like to have!

WHERE THERE'S SMOKE, IT MAY JUST BE SMOKE......

I am praying for you, have a great week.

                                                                           Jack...........
