I pray you are doing well.

Really, we are doing great, had a great weekend.  Thank you all for coming out Saturday for the work-day.  Jason and his team of helpers did a great job.

Had a great day Sunday, many visitors in attendance, God is so good.  Had a wonderful day of fellowship.

Had a great congregational meeting last Sunday.  The land is not for sale.  We are standing firm.

"Selfishness"

In this age in which we live, people stress the importance of climbing the ladder socially, in the business world, in politics and in education.  I believe this tempts many to become selfish so that their lives become centered on their own importance.  We can easily become concerned only for our own progress.

The climber sometimes hurts others in the process - Paul says in 1 Cor. 13:5 that love does not insist on its own way.  To avoid insisting on our own way we must discipline our thinking.  We must analyze the way we think.

God made us to be servants  To do that, we need health, energy, rest and food. We take care of self not just for our own sakes, but because we can reach out and help others,  Self interest is the legitimate consequence of the way God has created us.  Self interest says, "I need sleep," but I gladly give up a night's sleep because I am concerned for a friend who is having marriage problems.  To refuse to help such a one to get my night's sleep would be selfish.

Selfishness is one of the ugliest of sins that I can think of.  Selfishness will break up homes; it will split congregations.  Selfishness will cause you to lose your job, your friends and your soul in hell.

For the Christian who has love in his heart, that love will not insist on its own.

May God keep us close to Him.  May we always reach out to help those in need.  After all, brethren, this is what it means to be Christ-like.

I am praying for you, have a great week.
